From Our Own Correspondent. The school Anzac service was held in the hail last Thursday afternoon. It had been hoped that a public service could be held on Anzac Day the 25th, but as no speaker was avialable for that day, it was decided to hold it on tho eve of tho Easter holidays. Tnere was a fair attendance of parents and visitors present. The pupils first saluted the flag, the salute being taken by Air. Hansen, chairman of the school committee. They Avere then marched to the hall, where the service was conducted. After the singing of “God Defend New Zealand,” Air. Callaway, tlie head master, briefly addressed the children, and then followed the An-, zac hymn. Air. Hansen then introduced Canon G. Y. Woodward, who gave an Inspiring address, speaking of the fine British traits, the courage, duty and cheerfulness of the soldiers. He also impressed upon the children that in every day life (in the school and at some), the characteristics of these brave men could be theirs. The Recessional and National Anthem were sung. Arran Collins, an old pupil of the school, played the Last Post. The audience then went to the school for the placing of the wreath on the Roll of Honour. The wreath made by Aliss Lumsden, assistant teacher, was carried by Alartyn Lovelock and Sylvia Hansen, both of AVhom had uncles Avho had made the'supreme. sacrifice. Canon Woodward placed the Avreath and a silence vras observed. Several men Avhose names are on the Roll of Honour were present. Air. and Airs. Callaway afterwards entertained the \nsitors at afternoon tea at their residence.

Airs. AI. Hansen and her daughter Sylvia, have returned from a holiday in "Wellington, where they attended the wedding of Air. Ronberg. Air. C. Wood, of Newbury line, has gone to Christchurch for the Easter holidays. Airs. Baker, of Palmerston North, is at present staying with Air. and Airs. J. Cheetham. Air. and Airs. Winter, of Nelson, are the guests of Air. and Airs. Hansen. Airs. A. Simpson is at present away on holiday at Taupo and Rotorua. Air. and Airs. A. Holltnd and Atr. Leu Allardice, of - Dannevirke. have returned home after spending the. Easter holidays with Airs. Shaw. Air. and Airs. Porter and Airs. Ramsay, of Wellington, have bsen the guests ot Air. and Airs. S. Death. . ... Aliss Clarke is the guest of Airs. , A Campbell.
