Badminton Season Opens in City

LARGE ATTENDANCE AT SHOWGROUNDS There was an attendance of between 70 and SO people at the produce hall at tho Showgrounds last night, when the Palmerston North Badminton Club conducted its opening of the season. The hall presented a gay and animated appearance.

The president, Air. W. B. Tcnncnt, before declaring the season open, extended a hearty welcome to members and visitors. The large attendance, he said, was an excellent augury. The president made a pica for the extension of friendship between clubs in the district, which could be done by the exchange of visits.

Airs. K. Dean then sent the first shuttle over the net and Air. Tcnncnt declared the season open.

Visitors were the guests of the club for the evening and jit supper.
