Lord and Lady Baden Powell Depart
NEW ZEALAND’S POTENTIALITIES STRESSED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Lord and Lady 'Baden Powell left by the Maungauui for San Francisco this afternoon. In a message before ho left, Lord Baden Powell said he had been estimating that it was a mettcr of ten million pities that the whole population of England could not be given a visit to New Zealand. Of whatever class or conviction, they would have their eyes opened to the wonderful collection of beauties and wonders and interests that were contained in this far-off but warm-hearted bit of Britain. The sunny plains and snowy mountains, lakes and fiords, bush and forests (with no snakes in them) and peaceful homesteads, could not ( fail to appeal to all. Loyalty to the Throne and affection for the Old Country had shown itself a general characteristic among all classes they had come across. New Zealand was a young nation with enormous possibilibilities before it, provided it kept solid and united and avoided getting divided by local jealousies, sectarian differences, class consciousness or party politics.
