Feilding Beekeepers
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of the Feilding branch of the National Beekeepers’ Association was hold on Monday evening. Feeling reference was made to the passing of Air. Petersen, one of the members of the association.
The report and balance-sheet for the year showed the financial position of Iho branch to be good and members taking a keen interest iri the industry as a whole. A pleasing feature of the meeting was the desire shown on the part of iho more experienced members to assist beginners and smaller beekeepers by giving helpful advice and instruction. With this object in view and also as being of interest to the general public an illustrated lantern lecture to be given by Air. D. S. Robinson has been arranged, the date of which will be advertised shortly.
Reference was made to the detrimental cfi'cct of noxious weeds in the flavour of honey with special mention of ragwort and goatsrue, a resolution being passed that counties be written to asking them to declare goatsrue a noxious weed. Remits to conference were discussed, importance being attached to the necessity for part-time inspector.-; and marketing of produce. Air. Robinson thanked the part-time inspectors for (he assistance given, in the past season, making special mention of the help rendered by Air. A. Anderson.
Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow:—President, Mr. W. G. Short, vice-presidents, Messrs D. G. Fraser and A. Anderson; secretarytreasurer, Miss C. A. Barrett; assistant secretary, Air. A. Finch; committee, Messrs Jarrell-, Nairn, Finch and Hill.
