From Our Own Correspondent. At a meeting: of the hall commiteo on Friday night, an apology for absence was received from the chairman, Mr. .T. J. Hume. Mr. P. Hansen, acting chairman, proposed a vote of sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. .T. .T. Hume in the death of Mrs. Hume's mother that afternoon. The motion was carried by members standing a moment in silence. -The matter of holding euchre and dance evenings was discussed, a decision being left to next meeting. A suggestion to hold a social and dance about the middle of April met with general approval. The five-hundred club which met in the homos on Cameron’s line last winter will be meeting at the hall once a week and is issuing invitations to local residents to join up. The material for 20 new seats (.timber seats and iron logs), is on hand and the committee and other willing, members arc holding a working bee on Tuesday night to put them together. An application was received from the members of the Baptist Young Men’s Bible Class for tne use of the ball for a camp at Faster. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman to make inquiries regarding insurance rules, etc. A cricket match was arranged for Saturday between the local team and a team of Maoris from Kai Iwi pa. An insufficient number of Maoris turned up, so the afternoon was spent at practice. Miss T. Lower has returned homo from Ongarue. Mrs. It. D. Bennett is staying with Mrs. J. Walker, Rangitane street, Palmerston North. Tennis. The A tennis team visited Bunnythorpe on Saturday but owing to a heavy shower play was interrupted, witli the result the game was unfinished. The results, when play stopped, was Bunnythorpe, 5 sets (40 games); To Arakura, 4 sets (44 games). The Whakarongo B tennis team visited To Arakura on .Saturday, the game going to To Arakura.
