Fiom Our Own Correspondent. The Alilson Tennis Club held a Yankee handicap tournament on the local courts during the week-end. The weather was dull and after three games of the second round had been finished, play had to be discontinued owing to the commencement of the rain. It was then decided to postpone the tournament until next weekend.. Scores were:— First round. —C. Fairbairn and Athol Gilbert lost to Aliss Johansen and H. Taylor 15 —30; Airs. Dunn and E. Taylor beat Airs. Eden and Dunn 30 —IT; Edgar and J. Gilbert beat Airs. Bulmer and .Rasmussen 30 —19; Gumming and Hutchinson beat Airs. Hutchinson and Johansen 30—24; Brown and iUcPherson beat Airs. Gumming and Bulmer 30—25; Airs. Edgar and Poolo lost to Airs. Barclay 2G—3O.

Second round.—Dunn and Airs. Eden beat Fairbairn and A. Gilbert 30—23; Edgar and J. Gilbert beat Airs. Dunn and E. Taylor 30—14; Airs. Bulmer and Rasmussen beat Airs. Hutchinson and Johansen 30—22.

The Alilson School cricket team met and defeated a team from Terrace End School played on the Terrace End park on Friday last, the scores being, Alilson 61, Terrace End 4S. Air. AA r . Ridley, yard foreman at the Palmerston North Railway Station, is at present on sick leave. Ho is being relieved by Guard Tod Fairbairn.
