United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 10 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 6.

The weather was fine and there was a good attendance for the second day of the Victoria Racing Club’s autumn meeting.

Synagogue was well placed always and had a comfortable win in the Elms Handicap. This horso has had two starts for two wins since it was purchased by Mr. Jack Phillips. Queen Helen and Journey’s End were never dangerous.

Carnarvon made amends for its Sires’ Produce failure, winning the first division of the Carmichael Stakes Palfresco ran a game race. Cotys finished fast after a slow beginning. The winner is a stablcmate of Count Ito and a full brother to tho recent Caulfield winner, Eastern Knight. Lady Primrose finished brilliantly on the rails in the second division of the Carmichael Stakes. It is trained by George Jones for Mr. W. R. Kembail, and this was its third win this season.

Marabou, Cotys and Don Miquel, minor place-getters in tho first three races, are all trained by L. Robertson.

Pactolus was always prominent and had a comfortable win in tho Autumn Steeplechase. It is raced by the V.B.C. chairman, Mr. L. K. S. Mackinnon. Dark Sky atoned for its Newmarket failure by a narrow victory in the Leonard Stakes. It finished well and beat Great Legend over the iast few strides. Sir John, badly placed early, was a good third. Arachne had every show. Hall Mark made amends for Saturday’s defeat with a fast finish in the King’s Plate. Its victory was unpopular with a section of the crowd. Rogilla made the pace and improved on Saturday’s form. Topical had every show. King March made an improved effort. Hall Mark scored in the same event last year. Its trainer, Holt, also won the race with Second Wind, Heroic and Eurytlimic.

Whittingham, trained by a former New Zealander, George Price had a well-deserved win in the River Handicap, in which it finished fast. Alaric had every show. Royal Rest was unlucky in the Tunning. Gold Trail finished strongly and enehanced its Cup chance.
