New Role for New Zealand Butter

SMUGGLING- INTO U.S.A. BEING INVESTIGATED. United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Peb. 16. A message from Bellingham, Washington, states that a report that New Zealand butter is being smuggled into Whatsom County, is being investigated by the United States Customs authorities. A cargo of New Zealand butter reached Vancouver, British Columbia, recently awaiting entry to Washington. Entry was refused by Dr. Robert Prior, State director of livestock and dairies, unless the butter was accompanied by certificates showing that it came from dairies “ complying with the equivalent of the Washington sanitary requirements. He was told it would he impossible to trace the product to its sources.
