on .Saturday evening a pleasant social evening was held in the ballroom at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. R. Tanner, "Biuisclnle,” Karore. A novel effect was obtained by suspending a number of , miniature aeroplanes from the ceiling. About 80 guests were present, all spending a most enjoyable evening despite a boisterous night.. Dancing occupied most of the evening, a statue waltz being won by Miss 1. Kell and Air. K. Buchanan. Music for dancing was supplied by Air. I<’. Caple, extras being' played by Air. O. C. Yates. Supper was served to the guests in the supper room by Airs. D. Vowles and Mrs. At. Williamson. Mr. A. Buchanan, on behalf of those present, expressed thanks to Air. and Airs. Tanner for the enjoyable evening and for their generous hospitality on ail occasions, in reply, Air. Tanner said that it gave them great pleasure to give a party occasionally to his friends thsoughout the district and hoped all were making themselves at home. Air. Tanner concluded by wishing everyone a very happy evening. Musical honours were then accorded the hosts. Dancing concluded at midnight with “Atild Bang Syne.” The Bongburn Tennis Club held an enjoyable Yankee tournament at the courts on Alonday when there was a fair attendance of members and visitors. Afternoon tea was supplied by the lady members of tho club. The winners proved to be Mrs. Godfrey and Air. 1-'. Hearsey, with Aliss JI. Hills and Air. It. Milne run-ners-up. Hollowing were the scores:— Afilno and Miss Hills (1) beat Davey and Aliss T. Oliver (O 22—20, beat T. Rowland and Aliss .1. Rowland t(i) 22—lit, beat H. Bowler and Aliss T.
