Collision Between Jigger and Goods Train

RAILWAYMAN FAIRLY SERIOUSLY INJURED

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A head-on collision between a goods train and a hand-propelled jigger, which took place on the Westfield side of Sylvia Park station yesterday afternoon, resulted in the rider of the jigger, Frederick Ensom, aged 40, married, a railway surfaceman, being fairly seriously injured. He received head injuries, concussion and a fractured left shoulder. Ensom saw the approaching train just prior to the collision and tried to leap to safety, but was too late to throw himself clear.
