SOLICITOR CHARGED WITH ■ r THEFT
The theft of £942 15s 2d on divers dates between May 11, 1932 and September 30, 1933, the property of the estate of W. L. Child, deceased, was alleged against Allan James McLeavcy, solicitor, of Palmerston North, m the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Accused was remanded for a week on the application of the Police. Bail was renewed.
Percy Wm. Mills, a carrier, aged 23, appeared before the Court charged with a breach of the terms of his release on probation. A remand until this morning was granted. The fheft of two bicycles valued at
£3 and £6 10s respectively, were charges preferred against Janies Wilton Chambers, butcher, 24 years of age, who was remanded until September 28. Accused asked for bail, which was refused despitq the ’ fact that ho pleaded a wife and two children and a mother dying in hospital.
“Your mother was dying last time you were here," commented the Bench. Senior-Sergeant AVhitehead observed that he didn’t think of his wife and children when he committed the offences alleged. Accused: The trouble was I thought too much of them. Tho money I got for the bicycles I took home to support them. Messrs. AV. L. Black and D. J. Lovelock, J’s.P. were on the Bench.
