Captain 13. H. Pringle has been transferred from the Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles to t lie Manawatu Mounted Rifles.
Pilot-Officer R. G. Linkluter, of Palmerston North, of the New Zealand AitForce, has been promoted to the rank of Flying Officer.
The death has occurred of Mr William John Warn, of Palmerston .North, at the age of 83 years. A native ol MillwalJ, London, Air Warn came to the Dominion as a young man of 19 years, and following upon a period of residence in Wellington, lie settled in Otaki. On retiring from business, Mr Warn went to reside with his daughter, Airs 11. Hook, at Linton, and on Air and Airs Hook removing to Palmerston North, he accompanied them. He had been a resident of the city for the past three years. Air Want was twice married, and both his wives predeceased'hint. There were no children of the second marriage. There are left to mourn I heir loss a family of one son and three daughters of the first marriage, the members being Air Alfred Warn (Hamilton), Mesdauios 11. Hook (Palmerston North), A. Dsbrency (Milson) and A. Hook (Hamilton). There are also 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral took place at Otaki. Although his appointment to an executive position in the Department of Agriculture as director to the Fields Division in succession to Air J. W. Deem dates back some months, Air R. B. Tennent has not yet been released from his duties as fields superintendent for Otago and Southland. His active association with the work of the division in Otago is now drawing to a close, however, and in recognition of this a farewell function was held in tlio local branch of the department. All branches of the service were represented. and glowing tributes to Air Tcnnent’s outstanding service, his keenness for the work of experiment and research on which lie has been engaged for the past 14 years, and his willingness to co-operate with the officers of other sections, were paid by spokesmen representative of the fields, live stock, horticultural and clerical divisions. As a mark of the esteem in which ho was held,. Air Tennent was presented with a fireside chair and a handsome set of carvers.
