Brakes That Were Bad

LARGE PERCENTAGE DISCOVERED DEFECTIVE The amazing fact that no less than 31 per cent, of the car brakes lie had bested were found to be defective, is revealed in the report of the Automobile Association’s (Manawatu) service officer, presented to the monthly meeting of his executive last evening. Air V. Crichton reported that 592 cars and trucks were tested and in practically every case where adjustments were needed, the owners lost no time in having the defects rectified. A total of 378 vehicles were tested for defective lights, and with the exception of about 10 per cent., adjustments of various descriptions had to be effected in order that - the headlights, sidelights or tail-lights would comply with the regulations. It was pleasing to record that the general expressions of opinion indicate that the motoring public appreciate the action that is being taken both in regard to brakes and headlights. Many motorists have intimated that the improvement when driving at night is very noticeable.
