SLIGHT BASING IN FAT - ;SHEEP VALUES “ 'Per. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. With the cxceptiou of fat 'sheep, all major sections of tho Addipgton marhot to-day maintained or bettered late rates. A feature of tho market was heavy supplies of all classes of stock 'from the southern portion of the South Island. Store Sheep. —The entry almost entirely comprised hoggets. The sale for them was keen and firm at late rates. Top price for ewe hoggets was 2Ss 3d; wether hoggets sold to 19s 4d; old ewes with lambs brought front 11s Gd to 14s Gd, and wethers mado 22s 9d. Spring Lambs. —There was an entry of G 4 head and a declino in values to ‘JJd-to-IOJd per lb. Top price was 2Ss Id -■

Fat Hoggets.—The entry of 300 was smaller than for several weeks. There was little change in values, top price being 2Ss 4d. Fat Sheep.—The entry of 3700 head wa3 more than sufficient for requirements. In consequence there was an easing in values, • amounting to up to Is per head in all classes and from Is to Is Gd per head for heavy types. A big proportion wero southern sheep, many having been held over from last week. Values: Extra prime heavy wethers to 30s Id, primo 27s to 295, mediumweight 2-ls Gd to 275, ordinary 20s Gd to 245, light to 20s, extra primo heavy ewes to 28s 4d, primo 21 6d to 235, mediumweight 19s to 21s, ordinary 17s 6d to 19s, light to 17s. Fat Cattle. —There was an entry of 374 head with a big proportion of the, entry mado up of steers and heifers from Southland, South Canterbury and tho West Coast. There was an erratic sale, but fate rates wero maintained. Good beef mado 29s Gd to 31s Gd per 1001bs.; extra good 32s 6d, prime’heavy 2Gs to 295, ordinary 22s Gd to 2Gs, secondary 20s to 225, rough down to ISs. Values: Extra prime heavy steers to £l4 17s Gd, prime heavy £ll 5s to £l3 ss, mediumweight £lO to £ll 10s, ordinary £7 to £9 10s, light to £6 15s, extra prime heifers to £ll 7s Gd, primo £7 5s to £9 10s, medium £5 15s to £7, light to £5 ss, extra prime cows to £lO ,12s Gd, prime £7 to £of medium £5 to £6 15s, light £3 10s to £4 15s. Vealers. —There was a large entry, including many newly-dropped calves. The latter brought 2s Gd to 3s, in ' off cases up to 4s per head. Top price was £7-3s Gd, which was paid for the pick of a lino of runners which averaged £6 per head. Dairy cattle sold well, but quality was lacking. Good cows made to £5 10s and good heifers to £6. In tho store cattle section good fresh cows mado £4, and good steers to £7. Store Pigs.—There was an improved demand. Values: Weaners 13s to 17s Gd, stores 16s to 30s, sows in pig 20s to 37s Gd.

Fat Pigs.—There was a medium entry and prices for all' classes were slightly firmer. Values: Choppers 30s to £4 Is, baeonors 45s Gd to £3 4s Gd, extra heavy baconcrs to £3 11s Gd; average price per lb 5d to 5?.d; porkers/ 30s to £2 4s Gd; average price per lb, 5Jd to Old.
