Tlie new Cimarde'r will take four minutes to slide down the slipways when it is Launched on the Clydeside on September 26. Experts nave decided that her enormous weight of 40,000 tens will necessitate the slowing down of her launching speed, which will be achieved by means of drag chains weighing 2350 tons. It is understood that the Cunarder and the Ercnch Normandie will not be business rivals, although they will fight for the Atlantic Blue Rihand. The two companies have concluded an agreement by which the sailings of the two vessels will be so arranged that, when one is crossing the Atlantic from ear to west, the other will he steaming from west tc cast.
