It can - be said for him, however, that he has done very little racing. At three years he had two runs, both unplaced. At four years he ran tho second already referred to. and was thrice unplaced. Last season his only outing Was in tho Novice Stakes at Ambciiey on April 28, when he was not among the first six in a field of nine. In the Maiden Stakes at Riecarton on August 4 he was not among the first seven home.
At one time Gold Cross was trained by the late W. J. Pino. He was bred by liis owner, Mr, A, S. George, and ho is now a member of tho team . of C. Davey. He is a chestnut gelding by the Spearmint horse -Catmint from Verintia, by Solferino from Anitea (dam also of Rapier), by the St. Simon horse : St. Ambrose, who won the Williamstown Cup in 1904. Steplca, the dam of Anitoa, was by St. Lcger front the Nordenf'eldt mare Stepfoklt, a sister to Stepniak and to She, the dam of Bobadil. Rebel Chief, who was runner-up in the second division, of the Novice Stakes on Saturday,, is a. half-brother to Gold Cross,
