From Our Own Correspondent. Monthly Court Sitting. Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., presided at the monthly sitting of the Bulla Magistrate’s Court on Friday when Kenneth O’Neil, of Fcilding, who was involved in a motor collision near Bulla recently, was convicted and lined 5s with 10s costs for operating a car without being tho holder of a driver’s license. A batch of motorists whose car lights had not been correctly adjusted were proceeded against by Inspector H. J. Fowler, and were lined as under:—Charles Cockburn, Ohakea (10s and 13s costs); A. Yardley, Mavton (10s and 13s costs); M. E. H. McCabe (10s and 13s costs); J. Bromley (10s and 11s costs); G. Murray, Sanson (10s and 11s costs); S. 11. Siccly, Da’nnevirko (10s and 13s costs). Similarly charged, tho Highways Transport Company, of . Palmerston North, whose lorry was unable to comply with the lighting regulations, was lined 10s with 11s costs. Despite a wet night the Bowling Club's cribbago party on Thursday night was quite well attended. The ladies’ prize went to Mrs. F. Simpson (Ohakea) and Mr. James Montgomerie (Farewanui) won tho men's trophy. The Marton Bov,-ling Club’s annual meeting was held on Friday night, Mr. F. Purnell presiding over a large attendance. The election of officers resulted as under:—President, Mr. T. Low; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs M. N. Atkinson and D. Morrison; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Gubbins; auditor, Mr. A. Hawke; committee, Messrs G. Ferens, D. P. Porteous, and A. Todd (to fill vacancies); green supervisor and assistant, held over; selector, Mr. A. Todd; pavilion steward, Mr. TV. Brown; delegate, Mr. G. Simpson (Wanganui). Three prominont officials of last year—Messrs F. Purnell (president), M. A. Atkinson (secretary) and D. Morrison (green supervisor) would not accept office again. All three men have rendered splendid service to the club over a long period, and their decision to retire is a matter of regret. Personal. Friends of Mrs. C. A. Broughton will lie pleased to learn that she is in much better health, and high hopes aro entertained for her recovery. Mrs. M. Connolly, of Wellington, who has been visiting friends in Bulls, is at present the guest of Mrs. J. A. Bailey, Ohakea. Mr. F. A. Holland has returned home much benefited by medical treatment in Wanganui. < Mr. and Mrs. N. 11. Amos have returned home after a motor tour which occupied the greater part of Mr. Amos’s leave from the Post Office. inter-club Golf. On Saturday afternoon tho Rangitilcc) Golf Club sent a. men’s team to Marton where a very enjoyable day’s sport resulted in favour of the home side by 12 games to 6.
