Tokomaru

From Our Own Correspondent. A meeting of the residents was held on Wednesday in connection with the hall. A new committee was formed, the retiring members being Messrs E. Tltcombe and J. McClure, who have left the district, and L. Wilton. The remaining members wore Messrs J. Biggins, J. It. Whyte, It. W. Guy and It. Kelly. The newly elected members are Messrs T. Ryder, A. Grady and J. Sehwass. Several matters are to receive the new committee’s attention. At a later meeting of tho committee Mr. R. W. Guy was elected chairman and Mr. T. Ryder secretary. A meeting of the Domain Board was hold tho same evening, a new committee being elected. The retiring members were Messrs A. Judd, E. Rowlands, L. Wilton and tho newly elected members are Messrs .T. Liggins, A. Grady, N. Whyte. Mr. J. R. Whyte, the remaining member, was elected chairman. On September 11 the following scores were recorded by members of the Tokomaru Miniature Rifle Club:—A team: J. Hanson 70, G 6—136; O. 'Williams 64. G7 — 131; B. Guy 65, 65—130; H. J. Schaw 65, 66—331; M. L. Standish 67, 65—132; K Gyde 61, 62—123; T. Small 66, 64—130. B team: J. McNeil 66, 69—135; R. Scanlon 70, 67—137; A. Moody 66, 65—134; B. Cooksley 62, 6S —130; A. Cook 65, Go—130; T. Kelly 62, 61—126; G. Williams 61, 63 124. The prize winners in the night's competition were A. Moody 3, T. Kelly 2, R. Scanlon 3. Tho result of tho teams' competition was:—A. Moody’s 916 points; H. J. Shaw's 913 points. Tho local school has added eight new pupils to the roll this term. Some of the children have just reached school age and others are new residents in the district. Sickness is still prevalent in the district. The friends of Mrs. Waugh will bo sorry to learn that she has had to enter hospital for treatment. Miss J. Rankin has returned homo and is slowly recovering her health. Mrs. N. Gunning is spending a holiday with her mother. Mrs. Colcough, of Auckland, has been spending a holiday with Mrs. Wells. Mrs. J. Smith and her small son arc at present at FeUding on holiday.
