Dio\v, said that it was a pleasure to see the record attendance of 120 -hooter* tak | nart Tho record number of entrants uavo a very good indication of the interest being taken in miniature rifle shooting and particularly in this competition. in his opinion, rifle shooting in the Manawatu district was going ahead not onlv because of the large attendance but also because of the largo number ot local shooters taking part in outsffie competitions throughout tho length and breadth of the Dominion, it was very gratifying for him to see that there was in the district a young lady (Miss R. Birch) who had distinguished herself by putting on an excellent score. Her target would be a credit to any shooter and with a little luck she would have had a possible, only dropping two points. He concluded by congratulating Ohakea and Awahuri, the winners of tho Jones and Collinson shields respectively, and complimented tho range officers on their work during the evening.
