Unemployed Mold Mass Meeting
DEMONSTRATION IN CHRISTCHURCH per Pro?.** A^sooiution. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The unemployed of Christchurch hold a mass demonstration to-day. A procession through the main city streets comprised 1000 men and women, whilc 1009 attended a mass meeting held in Latimer Square. At the meeting, resolutions were passed demanding that the Government provide work for the unemployed at trade union rates or failing that; that the Sustenance Act of 1930 operate to-day to provide full, sustenance; that the unemployed be paid for time lost in demonstrations; that the Seditious Laws Bill be abandoned; and that Mr. Wyvern Wilson the magistrate at Auckland who recently imposed the Curfew restrictions on men convicted, be withdrawn from the Bench. ihe procession was most orderly, and the Mayor (Mr. Sulli\an) was one of the speakers.
