Foxton

From Our Own Correspondent. Dorca3 Society. Rev. 11. S. Kenney presided over the monthly meeting of tho Foxton Dorcas Society on. Monday afternoon. Others present were Mesdames D. Christie, F. Procter, Mairs, It. Moore, Brown and the secretary (Mrs. F. A. Mason). ill's. Proctor reported that lour parcels had been received since tho last meeting and 12 had been despatched. Tho parcels were donated by Mesdames Moore, Mason, Christie and Ellwood. A number of needy cases were reported and arrangements were made' for assistance. The society is still in urgent need of assistance and parcels of clothing would bo gratefully received. Enjoyable Concert. An excellent concert programme was submitted to a large audience in the Salvation Army hall on Fx'iday evening by performers from Feilding, most of whom are well known 2ZO radio artists. The Rev. McDonald (Methodist) presided, and among the Items rendered by the visitors were several vocal quartettes and trios, soprano solos by Miss J, Hughes, recitations by Cadet K. Hill, cornet duets and solos by Bandmaster A. Harford and Mr. H. Hill, and a piano duet by Cadet K. Hill and Mr. A. Tremain. At tho conclusion of the programme, Adjutant Gray thanked those present for their sympathy in the loss of liis father. The Adjutant also moved a vote of sympathy to Mr. If. Dewe, the loader of the Feilding party, who had been unable to be present that evening owing to the sudden death of his mother. Subsequently tbs members of tho party were entertained to supper provided by Mesdames Wishuowsky, Burns and J. Symons. Social and Dance. A successful dance was held under the auspices of the Ail Saints’ choir on Tuesday evening. There were a largo number of young people present and all spent a pleasant evening. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. E. C. Murphy, while the music was supplied by Mi’. Des. Mattar. Those contributing extras were Messrs J. Newton, J. Staff and Miss Pearl King. Supper was dispensed by members of the choir, after which dancing continued until a late hour.
