Failure of Battersea Power Station
SOUTHERN ENGLAND TEMPORARILY WITHOUT ELECTRICITY United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. Received Monday, 7.10 p.m. LONDON, July 30. Owing to the failure of the Battersea power station, 10,000 square miles of Southern England was affected by a breakdown of electricity, including London, in which the tramways and some of the electrical railways stopped. Traffic lights failed and radio sets stopped for an hour to three hours.
