A Gift Evening at Feilding
A very bright and happy gift evening was given on Friday by tho Methodist Choir for Miss Bertha Dewo who is shortly to be married to Mr. M. Worsfold, of Levin. Tho decorations were charmingly carried out with bowls of Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern and an entertaining time was spent with -competitions that were won by Mrs. D. Funncll and Miss Mclvor. The guest of honour, whoso sweet voice is always a pleasure to hear, sang during the evening and was instantly recalled. Mrs. H. Crump also gave a delightful vocal item for which an encore was demanded. A very nice gift for her future homo whs taken along for Miss Dewe by each of those present and Mr. A. R. Shelton (choirmaster) asked Miss Dewe Jo accept and open lior parcels and said that she had been a most valuable member of the choir and her associates felt they could not allow her to leave them without first giving her an evening'and inviting tho ex-members to join in. On their behalf he tendered her every good wish for the future. A deiectablo home-made supper was enjoyed and tho occasion ended with the singing of "She’s a Jolly Good Fellow" and "Auld Lang Sync."
