LITERARY CORNER
EXTRACT FROM LONGFELLOW’S POEM And I remember still, The words and from whom they came, Not he that repeated the Name, But He that doetli the will I And Him evermore I behold Walking in Galilee. Thro’ the cornfields waving gold, In hamlet, in wood and in wold, By the shores of ihe Beautiful Sea, He toucheth the sightless eyes; Before Him the demons llee; To the dead He sayctli ’’Arise,” To the living ‘‘Follow Me!” And thatvoice still soundeth on, From the centuries that are gone To the centuries that shall be! From all vain pomps and shows From the pride that overflows And tho false conceits of men; From all tho narrow rules And subtleties of schools And tho craft of tongue and pen Bewildored in its search ‘‘Lo here, lo there” the Church Poor, sad humanity, through all dust and heat Turns back with bleeding feet. —Sent in by Powder and Patches.
