Massey College

MEETING Or DAISY DIPLOMA CLUB. Over 70 students, mostly members of the rccently-l’onned Diploma Club, forsook their books ami study on Tuesday evening and notwithstanding coun-ter-attractions gathered at the .Broadway Lounge, where they tendered a hearty welcome to newcomers to the college. The president of the club, Mr. K. Booth, presided, and after welcoming tho students on behalf of the other members, outlined the objects of the Diploma Club. Following his address executive members of the various clubs spoke ou tho same lines, detailing the benefits of their particular clubs and inviting the support of the “freshers.” Mr. IV. Smith, factory superintendent, after welcoming the new students, pointed out the advantages which they had over the earlier workers in the industry and urged them to take every opportunity of preparing themselves for the responsible positions that would have to be filled in the future. Community singing, lusty and competitive under tnc leadership of Air. Smith, with Mr. Wright at the piano, proved very popular and thus time was passed until supper was served. A vote of thanks to the president was moved by Mr. Cave and carried by acclamation, this bringing a bright and enjoyable evening to a close.
