Feilding Unemployed
DECIDE TO PROTEST OVER CAMPS On Tuesday evening about sixty members of the PeUding Relief Workers’ Association met to consider I he matter of protesting against entering camps for tree-planting purposes. The proceedings at Palmerston North on Tuesday morning in connection with the demonstration before Hon. A. Hamilton, Minister of Employment, were outlined to the gathering by those of tho Feilding association who had attended, the meeting endorsing the sentiments ns expressed by Iho Feilding speakers. Following a lengthy discussion on the subject of the meeting, it was decided to form mi anti-camp council. Sixteen members were elected to the council, including 10 of those who find been called on to proceed to camp.
It was further decided to hold a demonstration in Feilding on Saturday morning, starting from the Borough Council chambers and proceeding to the Post Office, calling on (ho Mayor (Mr C. E. Taylor) and Hon. .T. G. Cobbo on route. In furtherance of the aims of the association in the anti-camp movement, the Mayor is to be asked to call a public meeting in Feilding to allow the relief workers to ventilate their case to the public.
