Bulgarian Coup d'Etat
End of Long-standing Enmity With Jugoslavia? BORIS ALREADY AT ODDS WITH MACEDONIANS United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, May 21. The Daily Mail's Belgrade correspondent says: “Jugoslavia clearly recognises King Boris' reason for seizing dictatorial power—to liquidate the impossible stalemate between two factions. “Boris runs a terrible risk from his present bold course, which, though directed towards ending a quarter of a century’s enmity between Bulgaria and Jugoslavia, sets him at odds with tho ruthless Maecdonain comitadjis, who will stop at nothing to prevent the signing of a Bulgar-Jugoslavian pact and will crush Boris unless lie crushes them. “Already the Bulgars and Macedonians, under the leadership of Mihailoff, arc fiercely fighting at Petritcli, which is believed to be Macedonia's secret arsenal. ” The Times says: “The Bulgarian coup d’etat involves the suppression of the Macedonian rebels in the mountains of south-western Bulgaria. That tho makers of the coup d’etat have thus far avoided bloodshed must be set down to their credit, but it is obvious that tho risks of the course they have followed arc bound to arouse the anxiety of their friends in Bulgaria.” The Daily Mail, under the heading “Europe Doing Well,” congratulates Bulgaria and Latvia on clearing out the “old gangs.” The Daily Mail adds that the people are sick of the spectacle of many-tongued demagogy trying to govern their countries.
