Miss Joyce Cooper To Visit Australia

The decision to bring out Joyce Cooper, English national free style and backstroke champion and Olympic representative, to Australia will be a welcome one to women swimmers in Australia and New Zealand.

Miss Francis Bult, tho Victorian woman swimming champion, said that her visit should prove very beneficial to women swimmers in Australia.

‘‘l met Miss Cooper at the Olympic Games,” she said, ‘‘and found her very popular where ever she went. She is typical of the tall, athletic type of English girl, slight and graceful, with pretty brown hair and is quite young ‘‘She is a great favourite in England, where she has held the championship for five years. Her attractive personality and her swimming ability have procured her a tour of America and invitations to swim in Europe. I notice that she has just gone to Holland to swim.

‘‘Joyce Cooper swam in three ovents at the Olympic Games, and fourth in tho final of tho 400 metres. She reached the semi-finals in the backstroke and in the 100 metres free style and also swam in the relay team. The visit of such a versatile swimmer will be very interesting.”
