Douglas Credit Votaries Air Their Views

ARCHBISHOP AVERILL HIGHLY COMMENDED Support of Archbishop Averill’s recent declaration in favour of Church intervention in currency matters was voiced at a meeting of the local branch of tho Douglas Credit organisation last evening.

The following motion was moved by Mr J. G. Hankins and seconded by Mr L. E. Simmons, the meeting expressing unanimous approval:—"That tho Palmerston North branch of tho Douglas Credit movement heartily endorses tho opinions so well expressed by his Grace, Archbishop Averill, in his address to Synod when referring to the economic situation, and sincerely trusts that all Christian people of this Dominion will unito to assist tho movement inaugurated to end this financial chaos, by means of social credit based on increasing purchasing power to equate with cost of production, and thereby ending the cruel and absurd policy of poverty amidst a world of plenty.” It was further resolved that a copy of tho above resolution be forwarded to Archbishop Averill and the local clergy.
