From Our Own Correspondent. The combined Hockey and Football Club dance held on Friday night proved to be one of the most enjoyable dances this season. The attendance was good, both local and from surrounding districts, there being patrons from Eketahuna, Nireaha and Tane. The joint M.’sC. who were responsible for the merry swing which participated were Mr. P. Jensen and Mr. O.'Evans. Two novelty 'dances during the evening were finalised as follow:—.Monte Carlo, Miss B. Shanahan and Mr C. Davenport; lucky spot, Miss Fafeita (Nireaha) and partner. The excellent music was supplied by an Eketahuna orchestra, extras being played by Miss J. Perry. The supper did much credit to the local ladies, also the floor which was prepared by the footballers, was m excellent condition for dancing. However, the evening proved a huge success ana everyone enjos'ed themselves to the utmost until the last dance was called at 2 a.m. Personal. Mrs. MacDonald, who has been the guest of Mrs. A. Turner, left for her home on Saturday. Miss Eddington, niece of Mrs. C. Hislop, is a.t present spending a visit witn the latter. , Miss D. Eagle, of Wellington, Is at present spending a recruiting holiday with her parents. Air. N. Thompson, of Taihape, has taken on farming at “Nga Puke” for his uncle, Mr. F. J. Evans, in partnership with his cousin, Mr. O. Evans. The weather for the past week has been wet early in the week, clearing during the week-end.
