Tokomaru
From Our Own Correspondent Despite adverse weather conditions, many Rifle Club members and their friends patronised the dance held by the club on Thursday evening. A professional orchestra had been engaged and a delicious supper was served during the evening by Rifle Club members and lady helpers. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss N. Larsen (Shannon) and Mr. A. Williams. Extras were played during the evening by Miss D. Webb and Mr. J. Knyvett. Mr. A. Williams capably controlled the floor. Among those present were Mesdames .1. McNeil), brown; J. Riggins, D. Pentecost, red satin; J. Anderson, navy blue; E. Patrick, R. Atkinson, blue satin; T. Sehaw, N. Cunning, green floral; Misses B. Amos (Palmerston North), green organdie; K. Williams, pink satin; M. Gilmour, petunia crepe; V. Guy, pink organdie; G. Guy, yellow printed organdie; J. Kelly, yellow satin; N. Butters, pale blue crepe; J. Rankin, blue; N. Osman, blue satin; N. Ennis, pink satin; J. Boote, red satin; A. Anderson, brown; Doris Wilton, pink satin; Aileen Schwass, blue crepe; R. Young, black; J. Young, brown; G. Patrick, red satin; V. Corlett, B. Corlett, C. Jamieson, brown marocain; M. Clapham, red satin; A. Schwass, blue crepe; N. Larsen (Shannon), pink crinkled crepe; S. Seifert (Feilding), black crepe; M. Webb, black; D. Webb, black marocain and white satin; A. Mason, white satin. Another dance of a similar nature is to he held by the Rifle Club next month. It was announced by Mr. G*. Williams that a community sing will be held under the auspices of Anglican Church members next Friday. Miss M. Scliwass was a. Tokomavu visitor to Wellington during the week, returning home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. F. Webb, of Christchurch, who have been staying with Air. and Mrs. A. Burt, left on Saturday to spend a few weeks with Mrs. A, Clarke, of Palmerston North. Mrs. Rizzt and. family, former residents of Tokomaru, are now settled at their new home near Collingwood. The friends of Mrs. H. Gibb will be pleased to hear that her small son who has recently been operated on, is lrnprovingl and will soon be back to normal health.
