From Our Own Correspondent. The Mi Ison Progressive Association held its fortnightly euchre tournament on Friday night, a. fair number of players taking- part. Air. .1. Donaldson had charge of Hie evening's entertainment. The first, prize for the ladies was won by Mrs. Castles, with Airs. Cnlleson second. Mr. J. Donaldson won the men's first prize, and Mr. R. Dunn and Mr. C. Fairburn tied for second, place, the former winning the play off. ,'Supper was kindly donated by Alesdumes Origg and Fahan, and a portion of the prizes by Air. E. Bell.
On Saturday night the Progressive Association held a learners’ dance and a ;jol!y time was spent,. Quite a number of learners took part, assisted by those that can already do all the old-time dances. Mr. Dewhurst was the M.C. Supper was kindly donated by Mesdames Donaldson, Dewhurst and Poole, ft is the intention of the Progressive Association to run these learners’ dances in conjuncion with tlieir usual fortnightly dances. Mr. and Airs. Sweeney, of Carlisle street, lias returned homo after spending a holiday in the 'Waikato district. Aiaster Jack Leslie, who underwent an operation in the public hospital last week, is progressing as well as can be expected.
Mr. C. Callender, who has been transferred from Alarton to Palmerston North railway station, took up his duties as coaching foreman on Monday.
