Oroua Downs
From Our Own Correspondent A dance was held on. Tuesday evening in aid of the hall funds and despite unfavourable weather conditions proved a financial success. The original arrangements were to take advantage of the broadcast programme from 2ZO, and Mr. E. Christensen fitted up his radio for the purpose. Unfortunately the power went off just after 8 o'clock and did not come on again until after ten, but several local musicians came forward and provided music on the piano. Candles had to he utilised for lighting, whilst a local motoiist assisted in this direction by running his car up to the door of the hall and utilising his headlights. The pianists were Mrs. W. Scott, Misses M. Christensen and J. P. Freeman, and -Messrs J. Bennett, N. Bernstein and M. Moltatt. Supper was handed round by the ladies of the committee, and Mr. K. Cotton proved an efficient M.C. The following are the scores recorded at the range on Monday evening:—-E. Christensen 13S, C. Christensen 108 T. Humphries 131, T. Grammer 136 J Robertson 138, K. Cotton 128, M.
