Pleasant Evening at Scottish Ingleside
The Manawatu Scottish Society’s Ingleside held in the Cosmopolitan hall on Wednesday evening provided the usual happy evening for patrons. The gathering was kept moving briskly by Mr Hughes, tho M.C., with the aid .of. Bonner’s orchestra. There was a good number present, including many visitors from far afield. A Paul Jones Monte Carlo was won by Mrs W. Salmon and Mr T. Ingles, and a lucky number va'leta by Miss Hewitt and Mr H. Gardner,. whilo the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss P. Highfield and- Piper Smith. Mrs Bennett entertained the gathering with humorous recitations. The president, Mr Jcnkinson, reminded those present that the next ingleside would bo in aid of the Mayor's Belief Fund, and also stated that the whole of the door takings would be. given to the fund. After the supper adjournment the Pipe Band Tendered two stirring marches. Mr Morris contributed music for an extra waltz.
