KUMERO A-HOPEL AND S The August meeting of tho KumoroaHopclands W.I. was held last week, when there wore about 30 members present. Aire B. H. Norman persided. A vote of condolence was passed with Airs Austin, who has lately suffered a bereavement. Aliss D. Mabey supplied tho motto for tho meeting. Airs Norman gave an interesting account of tho conference which she attended as delegate. Her remarks were listened to with great interest, A "bring and buy" stall was held to obtain funds for Federation purposes, and was well patronised. Airs C. Alackio gave a delightful demonstration on making lamp shades, and displayed a lovely shade—tho result of hor work. The pouffo cushion was won by Airs F. N. Kemp, who guessed the correct number of peas in a bottle (1540). A letter of congratulation on her election to Dominion President, is to bo forwarded to Airs Patterson, of Pahiatua. Tho hostesses were Airs Little Airs F. N. Kemp and Airs Hudson.! PONGAEOA. The Pongairoa W.I. hold the August mcotiug in tho Masonic Hall. Airs Aleech welcomed the president, Airs Pickett, who presided at the meeting. An invitation was received to attend tho Bush group meeting on August. 29, several members stating their intention to bo present. It was decided to make an Institute banner. At next meeting, members were asked to bring a small garment to make a parcel to be sent to an orphanage. An invitation from tho Presbyterian show committee t,o enter an exhibition of Institute work was accepted. The "bring and buy" stall in aid of Federation funds realised 6s Id. The hostesses, Airs AlacDonald, Misses Beatrice and Alary Kent, served a dainty afternoon tea. Aliss Pickett gave an interesting demonstration on chocolate paper pictures. The name-guessing competition was won by Alisscs Beatrice and Arary Kent, who tied. Airs AlcLain, of Waionc W. 1., kindly lent her wonderful sugar-bag work-box shaped like a house, for exhibition at tho meeting. Tho meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. KONINI Thcro was a good attendance of members'of the Konini Institute held in the Konini hall last Thursday, when Mrs. Kelly presided and extended a welcome to the following visitors: Alesdamcs Bogins, AlcSherry, Alisscs AlcKenny., Kelly and Ritchie, the later being a member of tho Ngaruawahia Institute; also Airs Tucker, a new member.

Mrs Dclehany gave a report, of tho group programme for the meeting to be held in Pahiatua on August 29. A demonstration of first aid bandages was given by Miss McKcnny, and it was keenly followed by all those present, including a number of Konini school children. ' The competition for the best knitted jumper was won by Miss K. Dolchanty, Mrs Groves being placed second. The judges (Mrs Boyens and Miss McKcnny) had a hard task in placing the winners, as the standard of the knitting runs very high. They also acted as judges for the competition for tho best nut loaf, which was won by Mrs Harry Avery, Mrs Groves being second. Tho missing word competition resulted in a tie for first place .by Mrs Tucker and Mrs Bovons. . A- dainty afternoon tea was .then served by the hostesses, Mrs Avery and Miss AV. Tucker. The sing ing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant gathering to a close. Mist Hirst presided at the piano.
