, From Our Own Correspondent. Bulb. Society. The annual meeting of tho Bulb Society was held on Wednesday evening, When Mr. G. " Kregcr presided over a good attendance. -The secretary, Mr. 11. E. Monk, presented a -very satisfactory financial report. It was decided to hold a show this year on the last Wednesday j in September, the proceeds to be divided between, the hall and library committees, The 'officers elected ' were " as ’ follow: Patron, Mr. E.«H. : llaythorrie; -president,•Mr- AW. On Thursday evening Miss B, Roticher and Mr. S. Knight, who are being married this week, were entertained by a large number of their friends. The programme was taken up with dancing and games, Miss J. Marshall contributing two songs. During tho evening Mr. W. E. Boshier called upon tho young couple to accept a large and varied assortment of kitchen articles which, he said, should tend to show tho esteem in- Which they, were both held. They had both lived all their lives in the district and It was very nice to know they were not leaving hero after they were married. He also called upon Bliss Koucher to accept.a, handsome vase from the Hockey Club. Mr. Knight suitably responded. Music was supplied throughout the evening by Mrs. V. Boshier, Miss T. Kroger and Messrs ■XA Thompson, J. Carr and K. Knight. A most enjoyable evening concluded at midnight, with the singing of “Auld Bang Syne.” - . - - - ■ Farmers’ Union. On -Saturday afternoon Mr. T. A:- Duin can, -vice-chairman of the New Zealand Meat. Board, addressed a. gathering of: over 40 farmers of the district. Mr. W. S. Marshall,- chairman of tho local branch of toe Farmers' Union, was in the chair. Mr. Duncan dealt fully with all matters appertaining to the Meat Board’s operations, and his audience showed a very keen' interest. At the close of the address' a number of questions were asked and answered. A hearty vote of thanks.to the speaker, proposed by Mr. W. E. Boshier and seconded by Mr._ A. C. Morton, was passed by acclamation. A motion of Confidence in the Meat Board wasalso carried/ - • '
