Plunket Society Reports For the Month
The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket' Society was held in the- City Council! Chambers yesterday, Mrs;A. Coombs' presiding. Also present were Mcsdames H. B. Free, J. H. Whyte, T. ,T. Rodgers, j G. S. Pcren, A. A. Langley, W. G.! Black, C. S. Small, G. G. Priest, L. H.: Collinson, Miss McLagan and Mrs M. Aitcihison (hon, secretary). There wore apologies from Mcsdames H. F. Wilson, A. Robinson, T. Fairbrother, H. Bennett, L. A. Abraham, J. Mounsey, A. Grigor, A. E. Mansford. 1 Before commencing tho business of the meeting Mrs Coombs extended a cordial greeting to Mrs Priest, who was taking her seat on tho committee for tho first time. The secretary reported that as tho result of tho recent bridgo afternoon tho funds had benefited to tho extent of just over £l2. This was considered most gratifying and a vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Collinson and Cunninghamo for the uso of tho room. Thanks were also accorded to Mrs Coombs who had generously donated tho prizes. Nurse’s Report, The Plunket nurse reported for the month of July that 237 visits had been paid to homes, tho visits to the room totalling 1,320 (adults 063, babies 567, older children 31). Twenty-eight new eases had been added to the books. Parcels of clothing were gratefully acknowledged from Mesdamos D. Robinson, Rhodes Jackson, Colpman, Manawafcu Women’s Club and Miss Shelton. Four visits had been paid, to Foxton and twelvo visits to homes in that centre. Visits to office totalled 90 (adult's 45, babies 40, older children 5). Two new eases were reported. Sale 3 for tho month, of Karilac, etc., amounted to £2B 11s 2d; membership fees of 5s from Mcsdames Oden and Cantlon; donations of 5s each from Mcsdames W. P. Procter, P. Warren, Woodhousc, S. Hill, and 10® from Mrs C. Basking, with 19s 3d from tho collection box brought tho-total receipts to £3l 10s sd.—The report was adopted. The secretary was authorised to forward a letter of thanks to the Manawatu Women’s Club for their fine contribution of now clothing handed to the Plunket nurso for distribution. A discussion took placo concerning the forthcoming Queen Carnival in aid of the Central Relief funds, and it was resolved to invite representatives of tho Hospital Board, professional nurses, Trained Nurses’ Association, and District Nursing Guild to meet tho committeo to decide on a candidate and formulate a campaign.
