Misses Beryl Bridgo and Reno Barr, of Manaia, who havo been tho guests of Mrs Barrow, Poolo street, Fcilding, riTo now on a visit to relatives in Wanganui.

Mr and Mrs Noel Greenhow and Mr Groenhow, of lliwinui, have taken their car by steamer to Christchurch, whero they propose to spend six weeks’ holiday.

Information to hand concerning the health of Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, who was operated on for appendicitis, states that her condition now shows some improvement after a second operation.

Mr and Mrs J. A. Edwards, of Otikcrainn liomostead, Southland, who havo boon in AVcllington for tho Royal Agricultural Society’s conference, are at present the guests of Mr and Mrs 11. B. lie-id, Cook street, .Palmerston North.

A very successful bridgo evening took place at the Russell street school on Friday, this being tho first of a series inaugurated, by tho ladies’ committee. The function proved most enjoyable to all and tho prize winners were Mrs. Galpin and Mrs. AY. P. Maule.

Miss Patricia Nelson, daughter- of Mr and Mrs AY. 11. Nelson, AVoodvillo, has been engaged by tho J. 0. AVilliamson Company for an important part in a musical comedy. Miss Nelson was on her way to England when she received the offer, and decided to accept it, and postpone her return to England and France for a time.

Something unique in. tho way of entertainment is offered patrons who attend the “mystery” dance which lias been organised by Die Tirilca AVumen’s Institute, to be held in Die Aokautero hall this evening. AVhilc it would he unfair to give any indication as to the mysterious happenings, that unknown quantity will certainly attract, and there should bo a record attendance. There will bo many competitions and novelty dances, and the usual generous hospitality is promised in the way of refreshments.

The death of Mrs Elizabeth Botlmmley, wifo of Mr A. T. Bothamley, 1.5.0., formerly Gentleman Usher of tho Black Rod, occurred suddenly on Saturday at AVcllington. Mrs Bothamley was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Poulton, of Leavesden, Herts, England, and arrived in Auckland in ISO 3, and in. Wellington with her family two years later. Her marriage to Mr Bothamley took placo in London in 187 G. She is survived by her husband, four sons, Mr G. F. Bothamley, second clerk assistant of the House of Representatives; Mr R. AY. Bothamley, solicitor; "Mr C. M. Bothamley, deputy clerk of Parliament; and Mr H. H. D. Bothamley; two daughters, Miss Bothamley and Mrs L. A. Reid (of Upper Hutt).
