Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club
ANNUAL MEETING. ' The annual meeting of the Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club was held last ovoniug in the Opera House supper room, Mrs. L. A. Abraham presiding over a fair attendance of members. Tho annual report of the secretary showed a very successful season and that the club now had a membership of 145. It also stated that great interest was taken in all competitions, and that four B grade players qualified for the A grade, and 6 juniors for the B grade. The annual tournament was very successful, attracting no less than 86 entries. Miss B. Gaisford won the open championship, also the club championship and the Freeth Record Cup with a score of 78. The middle-weight championship was won by Mrs. J. W. Rutherfurd and the junior championship by Miss R. Barling. Bixty-four contributed to the trophy fund. Ten inter-club matches were played during tho season and Manawatu is now in possesion of the Rapley Cup, regaining it from Marton. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. L. A. Abraham; vice-presidents, Miss B. Watson and Miss E. Macmillan; captain, Mrs. A. E. Ekstedt; Iron, secretary, Mrs. L. Seifert; assistant hon. secretary, Mrs. L. Cooper; committee, Mesdames E. H. Billeus, F. W. Coombs, E. V. Brooker and L. F. Bpecchley*
New Members. Mrs. A. G. Lawson, Mrs. J. Woods, Miss Ashby, Miss Burdett, Miss F. A. Fowler and MTss Hazel Collinson were elected members. Votes of Thanks. Hearty votes of thanks wcr« accorded tho retiring officers, Mrs. L. A. Abraham (president), Mrs. L. Cooper (captain), Mrs. L. Beifcrt (lion, secretary). Club Competitions.
The questions of the championships was discussed and it was decided that there should be qualifying rounds for both tho senior and middle-weight championships. It was decided that the competitions be played as for last year, first Tuesday, L.G.U.; second Tuesday, bogey; third Tuesday, L.G.U.; Mrs. Innes’ trophies, fourth Tuesday. Tlio first competition will bo played on Tuesday, April 4. DRAW FOR TO-DAY.
The following members of the Manawatu Ladies' Golf Club are drawn to play in the bogey round at HokowJiitu to-day:—Mrs. Seifert and Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. hheld and Miss Scott, Miss Wason and Mrs. A. G. La-wson, Miss Bogersou and Mrs. Cowing, Mrs. Ekstedt a bye, Mrs. D. O. Williams and Miss Cunrdnghamc, Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Oliver, Mrs. Fisher and Miss B. Lumsden, Mrs. Gabriel and Mrs. Hansel, Mrs. King and Mrs. Marhack, Mrs. 0. H. Williams and Miss E. Lumsdon. Anyone unable to play is asked to ring Mrs. Field (telephone 7382) before 11 a.m. Players are reminded that the summer golf competitions will be brought to a close on, March 21, when
a sealed holes bogey handicap -will beheld over ten holes. A presentation oli prizes 'won during the season will follow. All Slub members are invited to take part. 'Will players without partners be at the clubhouse at 2 o'clock. The following were the best cards handed in last week: — A grade: Mrs. (lowing, 72 —13 —59; Mrs. Field, 68—8—60; Miss Scott, .70—7—63.
