WOMEN’S W Miss McLagan returned to Palmerston North on Saturday after a visit to friends in New Plymouth, also at Manaia and Hawera. After touring the Dominion and visiting her brother, Mr. S. Bolton, "Oote, ” Pahiatua, Mrs. Samways, who was accompanied by her niece, Miss Mona Bolton, loft Pahiatua on Monday for Wellington to join the Rangitikei on her return to England.

Miss M. Andorson, who has so successfully carried on the labour bureau, established by her late mother, 40 years ago at Terrace End, and is relinquishing it to follow her nursing profession, will be much missed by a large circle of friends, and particularly the aged and sick people to whom she has not spared herself in ministering.

A business appointment as sports and clothes equipment adviser in a West End establishment in London has been accepted by Miss Joyce Wetliered, the former woman golf champion. Miss Webhered will not demonstrate golf shots or teaeh tho game, so tho work will not interfere with her amateur status. Her work will be to give advice on the right clothes to wear for sport.

Two hundred persons attended the pilgrimage to tho grave of tho late Dame Nellie Melba in the Lilydalc Cemetery, states a Melbourne exchange. Students and members of tho staff of the Albert Street Consorvatorium of Music and others attended. The grave was covered with beautiful flowmrs. Mr Harold Elvins, vice-director of the conservatorium, gave an address. Conducted by Mr G. Semmens, the Camberwell Choral Society, with several conservatoriuni students, sang "The Long Day Closes,’’ after which Mr H, J. Pettigrove, secretary of tho Australian Choral Society, led the assemblage in tho hymns "Rock of Ages’’ and "Abide With Me. ’’
