WELLINGTON, Last Night,
An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and the whole of New Zealand, while a widespread low-pressure area is located to northwards. Winds: Freshening easterly north of Kawhia and East Cape; elsewhere light to moderate and variable, but fresh westerly winds about Foveaux Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Hough north of East Cape and Foveaux Strait; elsewhere smooth.
Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong east winds and rough seas in the northern portion, with light variable, winds and smooth to moderate seas in the southern portion. Weather: Fair to fine generally, but scattered showers in Foveaux Strait and unsettled conditions, with rain developing, in North Auckland and the Bay of Plenty; temperatures becoming warmer.
