An interesting discovery was made on Monday during the curse of excavation work on the section in Duncan street for the site of the factory to bo erected by New Zealand Wooipack and Textiles Limited. Workmen came across two Alaori implements, one a stone axe of unusual shape and the other a peculiar crescent shaped hooked stone implement, probably used as a sharpening stone. Both implements were found on the Lady’s Alilo side of the hill near Air, Perreau’s house. The site was the location of an old stockade erected in the early days for the protection of the -white population of Poxton, but was never used.
