Prom Our Own Correspondent. Cricket. The local eleven travelled to Palmerston over the week-end to play the return match against the Commercial Club who managed to avenge their ilrst defeat by' a good margin in a very interesting game. The visiting team was suitably entertained and ail were loud in their praise of the hospitality extended to them. Jack Edgier, having won the toss, sent his team (Commercial) to the wickets. The scoring being as follows, both innings being shown :—Gallichan, 5, 46'; Akuira, 66, 10 ; Jewett, 32, 4; C. Pegler, 9,1; H. Pegler, 2,2,; Aleta Hori, 5, 0 ; B. At the close of play, Commercial were 60 runs up, but Taikorea’s display, was quite a creditable one. The .veteran bowler, .Gallicban, took every
wicket in the second innings, while in the first innings, Jewett’s fast deliveries skittled several wickets. Social. To-night in the Coronation hall, the residents of the district are giving a kitchen tea in honour of Air. and Airs. F. G. Hocke, who were very recently married. Those in charge wish to extend a very hearty welcome to all. Besides various items there will be euchre (prizes to be given) and dancing will be indulged in.
