■ From Our Own Correspondent. A largo crowd attended tho annual picnic for past, and present employees of tho Manawatu County Council, hold this year at tho Foxton beach. Tho weather was perfect except for a strong broozo but tho picnic ground chosen being well sheltered, this was not noticed and a most enjoyable day was spout in bathing, cricket and rounders, and numerous races for tho many children present. There were also races for tho adults, these being won as follow: —Single ladies’ race;- Miss J. Davey 1, Miss J. George 2; single men’s race: W. Bickford 1, W. Sanncm 2; married ladies’ race: Mrs. I. Edwards 1, Mrs. A. K. Drew 2; married men’s race: E. Littleton I, A. M. Sanson 2; “Old Buffers’ ” race: A. Hope 1, W. E. Barber 2; tug-of-war: Ex-em-ployees’ team 1, crusher and tramway staff team 2. Tho prize for this event was a “buno of contention” mounted on a wooden shield. This is tho fourth occasion upon which this shield has been contested for. .Ladies’ tug-of-war: single Indies 1. At the conclusion of the events the prizes wore presented by Mr. W. E. Barber.. The prizo for the married ladies’ race, a copper preservo pan, was generously donated by Mr. A. Hopwood, Palmerston North. Cricket. Fcilding B and Sandon met at Kowhai park on Saturday. Tho visitors, who were assisted by somo Flock House boys, scored a comfortable win, putting on 108 and 156 to Feilding B’s 48 and 55. Batting, for Sandon, W. Drew made 34 and 28, Meads 26, Griffin 28 not out, Beove 60, Campbell 12, Muiphy 12, Williamson 11, Farrow 10, Birch 10. For Foildiug B M. Matson 16, G. Dewo 18, and Macintosh 11, were tno doublefigure scorers.. Detailed scores were as follow: ,
