ALTITUDE TRIALS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, Jan. 25. The Houston Westland biplane which will bo used for the forthcoming British attempt to fly over Everest, successfully underwent an altitude test at Yeovil, Somerset, when it achieved a height of 35,000 feet, which is a thousand feet higher than the altitude required by the expedition. The test of tho electrically heated suits was entirely satisfactory. The plans include taking off from, the E.A.F. base at Purnea, 160 miles distant from Everest, the flight to which and back is likely to occupy six hours. The actual passage over tho summit will be cinematographed and the observers’ impression's recorded on a dictaphone. As a precaution against frost-bite exposed part of bodies will bo copiously oiled. Tho aeroplanes will carry special iron rations in the event of a forced landing in remote valleys.
