The state of the Irish parties when counting stopped was:— De Valera Cosgrave Independent 4 Labour - 1 - EFFECT OF VOTE SPLITTING Received Thursday, 11.30 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 26. As the Irish results only began to be announced at midnight there is no Press comment in London but headlines show a regarded setback for tho pro-treaty parties. Some Dublin reports already forecast a clear de Valera majority. The Daily Mail’s Dublin correspondent says the first results suggest the Gosgraveites suffered from the activities of the new centre party. Thus iai none of the latter has been elected.
