MANAWATU SUCCESSES CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS Per Press Association INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The New Zealand intermediate junior swimming championships opened in the municipal baths this afternoon. At the official opening at night a thousand were present. In the competition for the War Memorial Shield Auckland gained three points and Manawatu one.. Several exhibitions were givon and several fine performances w'ere put up, but no records were broken. Result's: — 100 yards, junior girls. —Miss Johnson (Auckland) 1, Miss Robertson (West Coast) 2, Miss Gillies (Otago) 3. Time, 1.13 4-5. 220 yards intermediate, girls, free style.—First heat: Miss Rainey (Auckland) 1, Miss Walls (West Coast) 2, Miss Low (Canterbury) 3. Time, 2.50. Second heat: Miss Sporlo (Manawatu) 1, Miss McGrath (Southland) 2, Miss Morris (Canterbury) 3. Time, 3.3 3-5. Final: Miss RainOy 1, Mis's Walls and Miss Sporle, equal, 2. Time, 2.58. 440 yards intermediate, boys, free style.—First heat: Crump (Auckland) 1, Cliff (Canterbury) 2, O’Driscoll (Otago) 3. Time, 5.31 2-5. Second heat: Johnson (Auckland) 1, Geddejs (Otago) 2, Watkins (Hawke’s Bay) 3. Time, 5.44 2-5. Final: Crump 1, Johnson 2, Geddes 3.
