Handling Epidemic Influenza Cases
P.N. HOSPITAL BOARD PREPARED POR POSSIBILITY All reasonable precautions are being taken by the Palmerston North Hospital Board to handle influenza cases should tho epidoinic at present raging on the other side of the world spread to New Zealand, members of the board were informed by tho chairman (Mr. J. K. Hornblow) yesterday. Tho secretary (Mr. A. J. Phillipps) reported that five years ago ho had made a survey of possible accommodation in the district, Tho board had no reserve stock of beds and bedding, but was otherwise well equipped. Mr. A. E. Mansford urged that a lesson should bo takon from tho past and further steps taken. Tho public would be inclined to blame the board if it did not do so.
Tho board decided, on tho motion of Mr. Mansford, to mako inquiries from the Health Department as to stocks of beds and bedding available in the country. “The public can rest assured that, in the invent of the epidemic spreading to tho Dominion, we would be very quick off tho mark,” commented tho chairman.
