German Equality
SIGNIFICANCE OP CLAIM DISARMING TO ONE LEVEL LONDON, Dec. 13. The Berlin, correspondent of the Times writes that, since Germany will not be satisfied with a paper acknowledgment of her moral right to equality, the conference in Geneva opens a vista of loug and difficult debates. Newspaper comments emphasise that Germany's ultimate aim is practical equality, whereby she can free herself of the bonds of the Versailles Treaty and recover some of the losses she incurred under the agreement. • Germany will press that equality involves that tho other nations shall disarm to her level. If agreement is not attainable, Germany, in spite of the lack of means, will join in the early competition in armaments. She would not tolerate reverting to the differential military status allotted her under the Versailles Treaty, but will regain her freedom of action, implying eventual re-armament, .v
