From Our Own Correspondent. A meeting of the school committee . was held ono night last week, Mere , being present Messrs S. Har*-, J'. Buckman, R. Pettigrew, J. Boddy, E. Signal and the teacher, Mr. Bastion. It was proposed that the teacher's report and correspondence be receivefl, also that the school be thoroughly cleaned during the holidays. The committee agreed to pay £1 for this work and decided that the teacher be given 10s out of ths school funds in order that he might' procure some infant supplementary
readers. It was arranged that the swimming pool be repaired during the holidays so that it will bo available immediately school reopens. The secretary was authorised to forward to Mr. Bastion a sum of money for the purchaso of new records and needles for the school gramophone. The sum of £1 was donated to the Tennis Club, this money being in hand from the sale of young trees and the profits of the children's fancy dress ball. Arrangement are in hand for the annual school picnic and prize giving to be held at the Piri Piri bridge this coming Friday, and it was agreed that the Utuwai school children and parents be invited to attend. After a spell of stormy weather the last few r bright days have been a welcome change and farmers are busy completing their shearing operations and preparing for haymaking.
